Where are you picked up after arrival at Schiphol?
After arriving at Schiphol, collecting your luggage and going through customs/passport control, you walk to the arrivals hall (ground floor). Schiphol has several arrivals halls (1, 2 and 3); which one you come out in depends on your gate. With AMS Taxi Schiphol you do not need to work that out: take the escalator, stairs or lift one floor up to Departure Hall 2 — the driver pulls up there when you give the signal. We do not use name signs; if in doubt, call our dispatch on +31 85 400 5400.
Are you being collected by family or a colleague instead of a taxi? Then they are best off parking in P1 Halen en Brengen (pick-up and drop-off), because nobody may stay and wait at Kiss & Ride. How that works is explained in our guide to Kiss & Ride at Schiphol.
Good to know
Schiphol has just one terminal with several arrivals halls. This makes it simpler than airports such as Frankfurt (2 terminals) or Heathrow (4 terminals) — all the arrivals halls are within walking distance of each other.
Where does the taxi drop you off when you depart?
When departing, the drop-off zone upstairs at the airport (departures/departure hall) is the standard location. There are three departure halls:
- Departure Hall 1: left-hand side
- Departure Hall 2 (centre): the most used entrance, including the main KLM entrance
- Departure Hall 3: right-hand side
With AMS Taxi Schiphol, the driver takes you to the right departure hall based on your flight and airline. You do not need to know which hall it is yourself — we know.
Schiphol taxi rank: official locations
The official taxi ranks at Schiphol for taxis that want to pick you up:
Arrivals (pick-up after your flight):
- Arrivals Hall 2: directly outside the exit doors, on the left-hand side of the central lane
- Arrivals Hall 1: a similar waiting area
Departures (drop-off before your flight):
- Departure Hall 2: upstairs at the airport, to the left of the main entrance
- Taxis may stop here briefly to unload luggage
Please note: AMS Taxi Schiphol is allowed to pick up travellers at the drop-off zone upstairs at Departure Hall 2. The driver waits there and pulls up when you signal.
How does pick-up work with AMS Taxi Schiphol?
For a journey where we pick you up from Schiphol, it works like this:
1. When booking, you give your flight number
2. We follow your flight live — including if it is delayed
3. The driver sets off so that he is there on time for your arrival
4. The driver is upstairs at Departure Hall 2 — take exit F and cross the zebra crossing to the outer lane
5. He pulls up when you give the signal; if in doubt, call our dispatch on +31 85 400 5400
Is your flight delayed? No problem — the driver adjusts automatically. The delay itself costs nothing, and after landing you have 45 minutes of free waiting time.

The difference between a booked taxi and a street taxi
There are two kinds of taxi available at Schiphol:
Street taxi (taxi rank outside):
- You walk to the official taxi rank outside the arrivals hall
- You queue for an available taxi
- The price runs on the meter — unknown in advance
- Waiting time varies: 5 to 30+ minutes in busy periods
Booked taxi (such as AMS Taxi Schiphol):
- The driver picks you up upstairs at Departure Hall 2, exit F
- Fixed price, known in advance
- No queue, no meter
- Straight to your front door
For travellers from the Haarlem and Beverwijk area and surroundings, a booked taxi is both more convenient and cheaper than a street taxi.
