Are taxi costs deductible as business expenses?
Yes. Taxi costs for business travel are deductible as business expenses in the Netherlands. This also applies to journeys to and from Schiphol if the trip is business-related (business trip, client visit, conference).
For entrepreneurs taxed under income tax (self-employed/sole traders):
- Taxi costs are fully deductible as business expenses
- The VAT can be reclaimed if you are registered for VAT
- Always keep the invoice as proof
For employees who claim expenses from an employer:
- The employer pays the taxi costs and books them as business expenses
- Or the employee claims them after the journey on the basis of an invoice received
Good to know
The Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax Administration) accepts taxi costs as business expenses provided the journey is business-related and there is an invoice showing the company name, date, amount and the provider's VAT number.

Why a fixed price is better value for business travellers
Business travellers who claim expenses or keep an expense account benefit from predictable costs. With a meter you only know afterwards what you pay — depending on traffic jams, diversions and waiting times.
With AMS Taxi Schiphol's fixed fares you know:
- What the journey costs in advance
- That there are no surcharges for early mornings or late evenings
- That the price stays the same, even if the driver is stuck in traffic
That means easier expense claims, better budgeting and less admin.
Business taxi vs lease car to Schiphol
Does your company have a lease car? Then driving to Schiphol seems free — but it is not. Costs you forget:
- Parking at Schiphol: €59.50 per 24 hours at P1, or around €95–€140 per week at P3 if booked online
- Fuel costs: around €8 for a car from Haarlem and back
- The taxable benefit (bijtelling) for private use of the lease car
For a weekly business trip, a fixed-price taxi is soon cheaper than parking. And you do not have to drive yourself — you can already work on your presentation in the taxi. Calculate your fare.
