Lisse sits at the heart of the Dutch bulb region, and for six weeks each spring the Keukenhof gardens turn a village of 22,000 people into one of the busiest visitor destinations in the Netherlands. That seasonal crush is exactly when public transport to Schiphol becomes awkward: the bus to the airport fills with day-trippers and luggage space disappears. A pre-booked taxi collects you at your hotel, your rental cottage or the Keukenhof entrance itself.

The drive follows the N208 and A44 north-east towards the airport and normally takes 30 to 45 minutes. Outside the tulip season the route is quiet, but during peak bloom in April the local roads around Lisse and Hillegom can slow to a crawl. We build that into the pickup time rather than leaving you to guess — tell us your flight and we work backwards from it.

Many visitors to Lisse arrive from abroad specifically for the flower season and are unfamiliar with Dutch public transport. There is no railway station in Lisse; the nearest are Hillegom and Nieuw-Vennep, both requiring a bus connection first.
